Neste estudo foi investigada a relação entre a serapilheira, variáveis climáticas, o índice de área foliar (IAF) e o índice de vegetação da diferença normalizada (NDVI) em florestas semidecíduas, para testar modelos que expliquem a produção de folhas e a deciduidade ao longo do tempo. A construção do modelo de renovação foliar em florestas estacionais foi uma consequência da análise do comportamento de diferentes fragmentos da floresta estacional, relacionados a ciclagem de nutrientes. O objetivo de modelar o fenomeno da caducifolia foi o de obter estimativas desse componente como um compartimento adicional do sumidouro de carbono no ecossistema. Os testes foram realizados em 8 fragmentos de floresta semidecídua com 24 parcelas permanentes, monitoradas mensalmente para medidas de IAF e coleta de serapilheira no período de 13 meses, juntamente com variáveis climáticas e imagens de satélite no período.In this study was investigated the relationship between litterfall, climatic variables, the leaf area index (LAI) and the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) in semi-deciduous forests, to test models that explain leaf production and deciduousness throughout of time. The construction of the leaf renewal model in seasonal forests was a consequence of analyzing the behavior of different fragments of the seasonal forest, related to nutrient cycling. The objective of modeling the caducifolia phenomenon was to obtain estimates of this component as an additional compartment of the carbon sink in the ecosystem. The tests were carried out in 8 fragments of semi-deciduous forest with 24 permanent plots, monitored monthly for LAI measurements and litter collection over a period of 13 months, together with climatic variables and satellite images during the period.
