Description:
The matrix of relationships contains the ego-network of Marcel Duchamp (focal ego), an important French-American artist of the 20th century, and creator of the concept of ready-mades. The file contains three documents: the matrix of Duchamp's relationships with his alters; the list of attributes of the nodes (gender, profession, year of birth, country of birth, year of death, country of death), and the list of documents in which the relationships were found, so that each relationship, among the 5225 listed in the matrix, is linked to a primary document. The node attribute information was filled in in three different languages: Portuguese, English and French. To build the database, I consulted Marcel Duchamp's published correspondence, as well as documents from the Duchamp Research Portal digital archive, which gathers primary documents from the Center Pompidou in Paris, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Marcel Duchamp Association. The list of primary documents in which the artist's relationships were mapped, contains the date of publication/production of the document, location/file where the document is currently deposited, type of file (letter, photograph, biography, documentary, life story, newspaper excerpt, interview, etc.), and the link to online consultation, when available.
